In the Night I Dream Back to the River I Once Visited
Site-specific mural (acrylic gloss medium and glass microspheres on wall), based on a 2016 manuscrip
Dimensions variable (870 × 100 cm for this iteration)
In 2016, I left my hometown to study in Shanghai. I usually spent my weekends wandering through an ancient town near my school, lingering among the interconnected waterways and stone bridges, where I captured the fleeting reflections in the river using ink.
A decade has since passed. The river I once looked upon must be different, and the captured reflection remains only as a frozen instant. Utilising the texture of glass microspheres, I recreate that very reflection onto the gallery wall, initiating a dialogue with that moment from ten years ago. The river of the past has dissolved into scattered memories, emerging only as a faint, elusive glimmer that shifts with the light.
